Dr Allison Dean and Dr Brian James have completed comprehensive training of the LANAP® protocol across multiple visits to Los Angeles (USA).  This now avails the most technologically advanced laser gum treatment to their patients.

Laser Gum Treatment and the PerioLase LANAP® protocol

The LANAP® protocol is a laser-based treatment for gum disease, which requires no cutting or suturing by your Periodontist.  Patients typically experience less pain and discomfort during and after the procedure, compared to traditional periodontal surgery.

The LANAP® protocol can only be performed with the PerioLase® MVP-7; a laser that attacks the bacteria that contribute to gum disease, while leaving healthy tissue intact.  Post-surgical gum recession and tooth sensitivity, which can be experienced following traditional gum surgery, are also greatly reduced.

Steps in Laser Gum Treatment

 1.  Your Periodontist probes each gum which alerts them to any excessive pocket depths.

2.  PerioLase® MVP-7™ laser selectively vaporises bacteria, endotoxins and diseased tissues.

3.  Ultrasonic scaler and tips are used to remove root surface tartar (calculus).

4.  Bone is modified in surgery and tissue regeneration commenced.

5.  PerioLase® MVP-7™ laser finishes cleaning pockets and stimulates natural growth factors.  This aids in sealing the pocket closed and helping prevent new bacteria from entering.

6.  Healing of gums to the clean root surface.

7.  Bite trauma is adjusted.

8.  Tissues and bone may regenerate for true healing.
